Paws, Claws, & Curious Minds
Have questions? We’ve gathered the ones people ask the most, from how we handle shy kitties to what we do for slithery sidekicks. If you don’t see what you need here, feel free to reach out. We’re always happy to chat and help.
How do I get in touch with you?
Simply contact us through our messaging system or send us an email to brensanimalfriends@gmail.com. We will be in touch to arrange a convenient time to discuss your pet’s care needs.
Where is Bren’s Animal Friends located?
We’re proudly based in the heart of Summerlyn, serving the Summerlyn and Summerlyn West communities. While we adore all animals, we don’t currently offer in-home care for dogs or cats—our resident queen, Bristol, is far too spoiled to share her throne. Instead, we come to your home, where your pets are most comfortable and loved.
What areas do you serve?
We currently serve the Summerlyn and Summerlyn West neighborhoods, including our friends at River Junction Apartments near the entrance and the Avilla Rio Oaks subdivision off County Road 263 and Seward Junction. We also happily visit nearby homes off River Run, because great neighbors deserve great pet care!
What types of animals do you care for?
We care for a wide range of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, and even backyard chickens. If it has fur, feathers, fins, or scales—and it’s legal and safe—we’re happy to help give it the love and attention it deserves. Don’t see your pet listed? Just ask!
Do you do meet-and-greets before the first visit?
Yes, we do! We offer a free meet-and-greet so you and your pet can get to know us before the first visit. It gives us a chance to learn your pet’s routine, favorite hiding spots, and any special quirks they might have. Plus, it helps your pet feel more comfortable when we return—because by then, we’re not strangers, we’re friends.
Do you offer holiday or weekend visits?
Yes, we sure do! Weekend visits are part of our regular services at no extra cost. Holiday visits are also available, but there is a small additional fee for the following dates:
- Day Before Thanksgiving
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Eve
- New Year’s Day
- 4th of July
These are some of our busiest times, and we want to make sure every pet still gets the care they deserve, even during the holidays!
Can you care for pets with special needs or senior pets?
Yes! We have a soft spot for pets who need a little extra TLC. Just let us know what accommodations or medications they need, and we’ll follow your instructions with love and care.
What if my pet has an emergency while I’m gone?
Your pet’s safety is our top priority. If an emergency comes up while you’re away, we’ll contact you right away. Depending on the situation, we’ll head to your preferred veterinarian or the closest trusted care center to ensure your pet gets the help they need quickly. We’ll keep you updated the entire time, because peace of mind matters.
Here are some of the nearby emergency or urgent care options we may use if needed:

What happens if my trip gets extended or delayed?
Life happens—we get it! Just let us know as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to accommodate the change. We want your pets to stay happy and stress-free until you’re home.
Can you care for my pets if I live in an apartment?
Absolutely! Apartments, condos, duplexes…you name it. As long as we can safely access your home and care for your pets, we’re happy to help.
Do you clean litter boxes, cages, or small animal enclosures?
Yes, we do! A clean space makes for a happy pet. We scoop kitty litter daily, spot-clean enclosures for small pets like hamsters and guinea pigs every other day, and refresh bedding as needed. If a crated pup has an accident, we take care of it as soon as we arrive—no pet should have to wait around in a mess. Clean and comfy is always the goal!
Do you walk dogs or just let them out?
Both! We tailor visits to your dog’s needs. If your pup is happy with a potty break and some backyard playtime, we’ve got that covered. If they enjoy a good walk, we’re happy to leash up and take them out for some exercise and sniffs. Walks do come with a small additional fee, which depends on how often you’d like your pup walked each day, but we’ll work with you to find the right fit.
Do you clean up after dogs?
We sure do—on walks. We always pick up after your pup while out and about. Backyard clean-up isn’t included in standard visits, but if you’d like us to scoop the yard during our time there, just let us know ahead of time. A small additional fee applies for backyard poop-scoopin’, but we’re happy to add it to your pet’s care plan.
Can you water plants or bring in packages while I’m away?
Sure can! We’re happy to grab your mail, water your plants, and keep things looking lived-in while you’re away. We’ll even take your garbage cans to and from the road on trash day—just let us know the schedule during our initial visit. Little extras like these help keep things running smoothly until you’re back home. These services are at NO EXTRA CHARGE!
How do payments work? Do you require a deposit?
We accept Venmo and cash at this time. A deposit may be required for holiday bookings or extended trips to hold your spot. Full payment is due at the end of your scheduled service. If you have any questions about pricing or payment, we’re happy to walk you through it—no surprises, just happy pets.
